The Spark That Started It All

For years, I was all in—chasing the dream of going pro, grinding through 20+ hour training weeks on top of a full-time job. Every session had to be perfect. Every result mattered.

Then, everything changed. An Achilles rupture, a life-threatening infection, five surgeries, and months bedridden forced me to stop and rethink everything.

When I finally got back to training, something was different. I wasn’t as fast, but I was free. A bad workout didn’t ruin my day. Instead, I felt grateful—grateful just to move, to ride, to do the things I once took for granted.

Within a year of leaving the hospital, I crossed the finish line at the Ironman World Championships in Kona. Not just as an athlete, but as someone who finally understood what this sport was really about.
